Hudson Soft's cherished title is a manic maze-based romp that throws the player into the role of the eponymous Bomberman, a fellow who finds himself charged with wandering the block-lined grids, depositing bombs in a bid to take out both walls and enemies. It's a simple premise, but a fiendishly compulsive one. The idea is to blow up the bricks in order to discover an entrance to the next level; to begin with you can only lay a single bomb at a time, though this increases as the game progresses. With enemies roaming the levels, take care to ensure you don't get trapped close to one of your own bombs - if you're caught in the blast, you're a goner.
