Buckle up and brace yourself for the return of the fastest sport in the
galaxy. Ladies and gentlemen, F-Zero is back on Game Boy Advance! After
a sell-out 2003 season on Nintendo GameCube, in the form of F-Zero GX,
the high-speed hover racing series makes an eagerly-awaited return to
GBA, in the form of F-Zero: GP Legend. This sequel to F-Zero: Maximum
Velocity introduces a roster of new features - which have never been
seen on Game Boy Advance before - designed to give you the ultimate
F-Zero experience in the palm of your hand. The first new addition - the
Story Mode - will be instantly familiar to anyone who's played F-Zero
GX. You must take on the mantle of various characters from the F-Zero
universe, from the famous bounty hunter Captain Falcon to the dastardly
alien mastermind Zoda, and race in their unique supersonic steeds. Each
level is told from the perspective of a different character, whose story
is fleshed out through the use of anime-style cut-scenes. The plot
intertwines so that the incidents in one character's race have an impact
on another's. For instance, in one race you must beat a competitor in
order to capture him. Later, while playing as the competitor, you must
escape from your captor's clutches. Clever stuff. Another newcomer to
the series is 'Zero Test' mode: a massive collection of mini challenges
designed to put your supersonic driving skills to the test, such as
mastering the use of dash plates or learning to corner more effectively.
But F-Zero just wouldn't be F-Zero without a Grand Prix mode, and
F-Zero: GP Legend certainly doesn't disappoint. There are three
different skill levels to choose from, with three championships in each.
Races take place on one of 15 different circuits; laden with deadly
90-degree bends, deep abysses, visibility-reducing mist, treacherous ice
and deadly mines. The game also includes a detailed Training mode in
which you can hone your high speed driving skills, and a Time Attack
mode to practise each track and achieve record-breaking lap times.
F-Zero: GP Legend combines the lightning-fast action and gripping game
modes you've come to love from the home console versions of F-Zero and
transplants them perfectly to Game Boy Advance, truly giving you power
in your pocket!
