The ex-marine was asked to step out from behind his desk and assist a team in thwarting a terrorist cell that had its sights on stealing a nuclear warhead.

Raymond Bryce

An ex-marine, Ray used to dedicate his life to saving others as part of the International Rescue Team. But with the guilt over the loss of his friend, Steve Hewitt, in the line of duty still painfully fresh, he has retreated behind a desk at the Blue Ridge Crisis Management Division in an attempt to escape his former life.

As Ray will soon find out, however, the past is not so easily evaded. When some previous employers call with a grave request, the wheels are set in motion for the most dramatic day of his life. Before the next 24 hours are out, Ray will face the full wrath of nature, wage a one-man war on a terrorist organisation and attempt to fulfil a promise made to his former colleague and dear friend.

Lisa Hewitt

After the death of her brother Steve, Lisa Hewitt needed someone to blame. When she didn’t hear from Steve’s partner Ray in the aftermath of the tragic incident, she decided he was the one who should be held responsible.

The assistant of a seismology professor, Lisa’s expertise in the field of natural disasters could be exploited if her knowledge fell into the wrong hands. And as the world begins to shudder under the weight of nature’s might, it turns out the wrong hands have their fingers on everything.

Colonel Haynes

Once the leader of an elite government force called SURGE, Haynes’s allegiance to the flag was shattered when he and his men were betrayed by their superiors. Now bearing a grudge against his country, Haynes will stop at nothing to have the names of all those involved in SURGE cleared of false charges and the families of soldiers lost in the line of duty awarded millions in compensation.

Major Evans

Second-in-command to Colonel Haynes, Major Evans doesn’t crave justice or money. His ultimate interests lie in experiencing the adrenalin rush he believes can only be brought about through devastation – an urge he will stop at nothing to satisfy.
