The House of the Dead: OVERKILL

System: Wii Release date: 13/02/2009

Grab the Wii Remote or Wii Zapper and unleash vast amounts of lead at the hordes of undead, because shooting games don't get any more hardcore than this! House of the Dead: Overkill hits Wii in all its gory glory, bringing the prequel to the classic arcade series directly to your front room.

The relentless action means you'll barely have a chance to rest your trigger finger as wave after wave of flesh-crawlingly creepy zombies line up for their chance to chow down on your grey matter.

Taking it back to where it all began, House of the Dead: Overkill joins newly-graduated and still fresh-faced Agent G on his first assignment as he teams up with his hard-boiled and plain-spoken partner, Agent Washington. They're about to meet the none-too-friendly inhabitants of Bayou City as they set out on a mission to discover the truth about evil crime lord Papa Caesar's bone-chilling plans.

The original splatterpunk style of the series has been given a funky new graphical spin, with a retro grindhouse B-movie atmosphere. The gripping story unfolds with razor-sharp dialogue that's not for the easily offended. But the most important thing in a House of the Dead title is of course frenetic action and furious firepower and Overkill delivers these in spades.

So grab your trusty weapon and get ready to bring the fight to the zombies. Two-player co-op ratchets the action up another notch, adding even more zombie-eviscerating firepower. The Wii Remote allows accurate targeting while the game also supports the Wii Zapper for authentic arcade-style light-gun shooting thrills. Accuracy is rewarded with bonuses for clean kills achieved with headshots, saving civilians and racking up multiple kills without a single miss.

Not for the faint of heart, House of the Dead: Overkill offers the ultimate adrenalin-pumping blast fest. If it was any gorier, you'd need to get your carpet cleaned!

  • Hit the gun shop to customise your arsenal for the optimum undead-blasting performance.
  • Competitive mode allows up to four players to go head to head, aiming to rack up the highest kill rate.
  • Power-ups allow you to fire grenades for indiscriminate zombie blasting or temporarily slow down the action for a cinematic shooting spree.
