What Else Wii Can Do

Wii Channels

One of the development concepts for Wii was the idea of "increasing the number of channels on the family TV set." Of course, since Wii is a game console, the idea of booting up a game disc in order to play games has been left intact, but much in the same way that we incorporated the internal PictoChat software on the Nintendo DS, we have also prepared some internal software for Wii.

More Channels on Your TV

Wii Channels

Each one of these programs is called a Channel. There are Channels that use WiiConnect24 for information distribution, creative Channels that work in conjunction with your games, Channels that make use of the SD Memory Card, and so on. Much as you would choose a TV channel to watch with your TV remote, you can use the Wii Remote to choose from the various Wii Channels. Expect a larger variety of Channels in the future.

The Virtual Console games you have downloaded also appear as a Channel. A list of 12 Channels will be displayed in a 4 by 3 grid when you turn the Wii console ON. You can freely change the order of all the Channels except the Disc Channel, which is always shown in the upper left-hand corner.

Mii Channel
