Survival horror on Game Boy Color - you'd better believe it. Adapted from a groundbreaking series of ghoulish games, Infogrames' Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare features some of the most belief-beggaring backgrounds ever seen on Game Boy Color.
Controlling a supernatural sleuth named Edward Carnby, your mission is to solve a murder mystery on the appropriately named Shadow Island. As the riveting plot unfolds, you'll discover that this mystery is far from cut and dry. There are dark supernatural forces at work, so you'll have to prepare to rub elbows with some unsavoury creatures from unearthly planes.
Staying true to its survival horror roots, Alone in the Dark features fixed backgrounds, which do not scroll. Your character walks through a scene, and a new one loads when you reach the edge. You won't believe your eyes when you see the impressive scenery in this game, which look more realistic than anything seen on Game Boy Color before.
Be sure to search the nooks and crannies of each scene to find extra ammunition and secret items, because as you travel through the game, you'll occasionally be ambushed by an unfriendly visitor. When this happens, the camera switches to a three-quarters view of the room, giving you another angle from which to appreciate those beautiful graphics.
