Once upon a time, in a land of magic and adventure, during an ageless era beyond numbers and records, a young boy called Brandt awoke full of excitement on his fourteenth birthday. In the tiny kingdom of Horne, which Brandt called his home, tradition dictated that on this fateful milestone he must visit the castle to present himself to the King, passing from boyhood to adulthood with every step.
Reaching the castle Brandt found the King inconsolable, his youngest daughter kidnapped and the evil Witch of the North to blame. Desperate with worry, the King asked young Brandt to save the princess; for this fateful day would not simply end with Brandt on the path of an adult, but on the road of a hero, passing from childhood into legend with every footfall.
As time and tide passed, Brandt was joined by three others on his journey. Brave souls with hearts open, together these Four Heroes of Light forged bonds of friendship and love that would embrace the entire world... and change the course of history.
FINAL FANTASY THE 4 HEROES OF LIGHT is an original FINAL FANTASY adventure lovingly crafted by the team who brought FINAL FANTASY III and FINAL FANTASY IV to the Nintendo DS.
With the aim to evoke happy memories of RPGs past, nostalgia for classic titles and to create a wonderfully 'old school RPG' with the 'new school' technology of the Nintendo DS, FINAL FANTASY THE 4 HEROES OF LIGHT is a very deliberate return to the classic roots of the RPG genre. It's a traditional fairy tale full of mystical beasts, enchantresses, kings, dashing swordplay and (naturally) dungeons full of monsters. With art direction from Akihiko Yoshida (the mind behind the lyrical worlds of FINAL FANTASY III DS and FINAL FANTASY VII) this instalment in the series is realised in gorgeous storybook-style graphics which bring the beguiling charm of an age old yarn to every screen.
The combat and control system has been specially designed to be simple enough for new players to pick up but familiar enough for old hands at RPGs to get stuck into straight away. Combat is turn-based and with the opportunity to customise your battle command layout the user friendly Touch Screen controls make each skirmish a cinch to govern. It's also possible to switch profession and learn new skills in the job change 'Crown System' - where you quite literally change your job by changing your hat! With 28 different character classes to choose from (including Black Mage, White Mage, Ranger and more) it's possible to swap freely to create each team member's perfect skill set.
Using Multi-Card Play you and up to three friends can step directly into the dusty boots of the Four Heroes of Light and take on the world together! In addition to the pride and mutual respect that comes from helping friends on their legendary journey, multiplayer guests also earn Battle Points that they can trade in for extremely desirable rare items!
FINAL FANTASY THE 4 HEROES OF LIGHT is a completely new, truly original FINAL FANTASY adventure, made exclusively for the Nintendo DS.
