The global landscape has changed dramatically following a mass disaster. Its industries destroyed and its people struggling for survival, the United States is no longer the superpower it once was. When a weakened USA is invaded by a new superpower – the Federation – and several states fall under enemy control, the remnants of the US special forces come together to form an elite paramilitary group known as the "Ghosts”. Together they fight back against the Federation and protect what remains of their homeland.
Alongside a cinematic single-player campaign, Call of Duty: Ghosts brings new modes and a greater level of customisation to online multiplayer. Favourites such as Team Deathmatch, Domination and Free-For-All are joined by several new multiplayer match types that’ll sort the cadets from the corporals. In Search and Rescue, recover dog tags from downed allies to revive them, or grab tags belonging to your enemies to keep them on the sidelines, whereas Cranked challenges you to shoot on a schedule; take down a foe before the timer runs out or you’re gone!
The enhanced Create-A-Soldier system expands character customisation in multiplayer, giving you thousands of options to fine-tune your weapon loadouts and the appearance of your soldier. By balancing a budget you can create characters with more flexibility than before. Select a few powerful Perks, a wider range of weaker ones, or swap out your sidearm if you want even more skills!
Enlist an elite team in Squads, an all-new mode that puts the focus firmly on teamwork. Pit your squad against a rival’s in real time, challenge offline players’ soldiers in AI battles or team up with friends to survive against waves of enemies. Any progress made during Squads carries over to multiplayer XP too, helping you unlock equipment and quick march up the ranks even faster.
