PES 2010 - Pro Evolution Soccer

System: Wii Release date: 19/11/2009

Get even closer to the action on the football field with PES 2010 - Pro Evolution Soccer for Wii. The latest version of the hit soccer simulation crams in new features to make the 2010 season more realistic than ever, tweaking the groundbreaking Wii control scheme to let you dictate the flow of play with increased precision.

Once again boasting an officially licensed UEFA Champions League mode, PES 2010 places you in the boots of the brightest footy stars on the globe as you assume control of your favourite club and national sides in league and cup competitions. Stake your claim for a place in the Champions League by toppling the opposition in the Master League, or head online to play opponents around the planet – using the team you’ve built in Master League, Champions Road or My Team modes for the first time to make victory taste even sweeter.

PES on Wii has always been a unique experience. Send players on decoy runs, thread cutting passes through the defence or mark loitering strikers using the motion-sensing power of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. By tracing lines on the pitch, pointing at players or making context-sensitive movements with the controllers, you can orchestrate the flow of the game with unmatched satisfaction. This year, an enhanced Free Run system means players won’t vacate their patch of grass when another team-mate makes a Free Run into that area – increasing your attacking options as you move the ball up the field. Free kicks have also changed, and are now taken from the player’s perspective and directed via the Wii Remote pointer. With spectacular set-pieces more likely, your opponent might think twice about hauling you down on the edge of the box next time! If you prefer a more traditional control scheme, all the action on the pitch can also be controlled using the Classic Controller.

Further enhancing the gameplay is a new stamina meter which affects players’ ability to constantly out-run the opposition or make countless ball-winning challenges. Instead of simply monitoring a single stamina meter for each player on your team, you’ll also have to keep an eye on their “instantaneous stamina”, which is drained when players set off on epic solo runs or constantly battle to win the ball back. If you’ve been relying on a flying winger or battling midfielder too much, it might be time for a change of tactics!

As with last season’s effort, PES 2010 once again lets up to eight players compete together in online play via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Can you and your mates form a dream team capable of conquering the best PES players out there? If you have your Wii connected to the Internet, you’ll also benefit from updates to team rosters in the summer and winter transfer windows – ensuring your favourite team in the real world is accurately reflected in the game.

Play your part in the ongoing evolution in football games with PES 2010 for Wii.
