The Rayman series debuted over a decade ago, and in Rayman Origins the unconventional hero bounds back into a world of classic platforming action brought to life by eye-catching artwork and animation. Whether you’re a long-time Rayman fan or have never encountered the limbless wonder before, Rayman Origins will draw you in with its unique charm and imaginative ideas.
Set in the mystical Glade of Dreams, the adventure begins when some unpleasant types known as Darktoons show up to shatter the peace. In a bid to combat the unruly invaders, the Fairy Council hastily summons a hero, getting a little less than they bargained for when Rayman appears on the scene. Now it’s up to him to save the day by blazing through 60 levels featuring lush landscapes, bizarre bad guys and all sorts of secrets.
While Rayman Origins offers plenty to keep lone heroes engaged, the game really comes to life when four players get in on the fun. You can drop in or out of the action at any moment, taking control of either Rayman, his best friend Globox or one of two crafty wizards known as the Teensies. As the adventure unfolds, your heroes will acquire new skills and special moves – like Rayman’s gravity-defying “HairlyCopter”. The more moves you’ve got in your locker the better, because epic boss battles will see you and your buddies facing-off against everything from a giant pink monster with hundreds of eyes to a carnivorous daisy.
Whether playing alone or with friends, there’s plenty of exploring to do in Rayman Origins. Returning to levels you’ve already cleared could yield new discoveries if you go back to them with an upgraded skill-set, and you’ll want to keep an eye out for fragments of the Glade’s history and then piece them together to reveal Rayman’s true origins.
With old-school platforming gameplay that mashes in elements of shoot ‘em ups and beat ‘em ups, Rayman Origins is a riotous romp that everyone can get a kick out of. It’s Rayman the way you remember him, but like you’ve never seen him before!
