Real Heroes: FIREFIGHTER

System: Wii Release date: 24/09/2010

Face the heat on the frontline as you assume the role of a rookie firefighter destined to become a hero on Wii.

Real Heroes: FIREFIGHTER places you in the protective boots of a newly graduated member of the emergency services about to learn his trade by tackling blazes in and around Los Angeles as part of the fire department’s Company 13. And with one deadly situation after another arising across the city, you can expect to be thrown in at the deep end of one of the most dangerous professions on the planet.

With the action playing out from a first-person perspective, Real Heroes: FIREFIGHTER invites you to get to grips with the tools of the trade as you handle hoses, axes, crowbars and more. Whether spraying jets of water on out-of-control fires or breaking down doors to reach people in need of rescuing, the action is brought to life by immersive Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls that really put you in the action.

To extinguish fires, you’ll point the Wii Remote at a specific area of the screen and let loose with torrents of water – carefully selecting which part of the inferno to put out first as you attempt to safely navigate nine red hot levels. Similarly, other items in your possession are also utilised with natural motions. Swing the Wii Remote to slice through doors with your axe or follow guiding lines on the screen in order to cut debris with the circular saw. With burning warehouses, museums, malls and even a collapsed bridge to contend with, you’d better make sure you have a firm grasp of all the gear at your disposal, paying attention to the game’s tutorial mode to ready yourself for action. It’s also worth remembering that in-game collectibles can boost the performance of your equipment to give you an extra edge over nature’s wrath.

Adding to the already intense drama is a cast of voice actors who have previously exhibited their talents in big and small screen hits like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Futurama and Aliens. So expect to hear cries for help and words of warning from your colleagues as you explore one fire-ravaged environment after another.

Face a deadly enemy with a difference and serve the city of Los Angeles in a dramatic new Wii game that challenges you to become that rarest of commodities - a real hero.
