Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero

System: Wii Release date: 22/01/2010

The classic survival horror title hits Wii with new control options and all the gore-soaked thrills of the GameCube original.  With stunningly atmospheric graphics, innovative dual-character control and a shock waiting round every corner, Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero lets you immerse yourself in the full spine-chilling backstory to the legendary series.

After a series of grisly murders in Raccoon City, the special task force S.T.A.R.S. Bravo are flown in to investigate. But the investigation hits an early bump when their helicopter needs to make an emergency landing. Bravo Team conducts a search of the area and discovers a toppled-over jeep, containing the dead bodies of two soldiers and evidence which suggests the vehicle was used to transport ex-military convict, Billy Coen to a nearby military base. When the team spreads out to look for the escapee, Bravo's medic Rebecca Chambers comes across a stationary train. On board, she is attacked by the deceased passengers of the train, but an unlikely ally comes to the rescue: Billy Coen. It's not the most likely pair-up, but they’re going to have to learn to get along fast as they race to uncover the truth behind the horrifying t-virus and the sinister machinations of the Umbrella Corporation.

You’ll control both Rebecca and Billy and teamwork is the key to success. The "partner zapping" system allows you to switch between the two characters with just the touch of a button. Each character has their own unique characteristics and skills – you’ll need to make use of both Billy’s brawn and Rebecca’s brains as she mixes up herbs to create vital medical supplies. Lightning-fast switching between the heroes lets you develop your own tactics to outsmart the mutants on your trail – for instance, one character can focus on puzzle-solving while the other brings the fight to the enemy hordes.

The action unfolds across a series of nerve-shredding levels, each boasting graphics that are as gorgeous as they are gruesome. Beautifully-rendered shading and striking background images ratchet up the tension – you’ll want to see what’s in the next room at the same time as you dread it. You’ll have to dispatch all manner of terrifying and twisted enemies, culminating in truly jaw-dropping end of level bosses who’ll demand all your firepower and tactical skill to take down.

So open the archives and delve into the mysterious origins of the Resident Evil series in a horror fest that will test your survival skills to the limit.
