Rock Band ® 3

System: Wii Release date: 29/10/2010

Harmonix and MTV Games come together to bring Rock Band 3 to Wii, providing the most accessible, varied and engrossing music performance gameplay you’ve ever experienced. With all-new modes, new content and the debut of keyboards & Pro instrument controllers there’s more fun and finger-picking to be had than ever before.

You can rock solo or with friends and up to seven people can play (as Rock Band 3 includes the three-part harmonies introduced in The Beatles™: Rock Band™) or even play online with friends via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Rock Band 3 is easy to pick up and play for newcomers and experts alike, just pick your role in the band and you’re off! Vocalists are provided with lyrics and the melody they have to match - with nothing but the power of their voice!

Bassists, guitarists and drummers are presented with a note highway on screen populated by moving, coloured notes which correspond to the coloured buttons on their controllers. When the coloured notes hit the line at the front of the screen those band members just hit the note and strum, or smack the drum pad, that matches the colour of the note. Strum or drum with the right timing and you’re playing in a rock band!

With a range of difficulty levels there’s a challenge for everybody - whether it’s your first time with a plastic instrument or you’re aiming for a perfect run on expert.

There are 83 sizzling tracks from famous artists on the disc including hits from The Vines, Juanes, Stone Temple Pilots, The Cure, Whitesnake, Dio, Huey Lewis and the News, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Doors, Ida Maria, Metric and Phoenix, among others. Rock Band 3 supports content from previous games in the series and there’s a massive online music library with nearly 1,400 tracks at release to download via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Pay & Play.

With so many tracks to choose from it’s a good job Harmonix made some snazzy features to help you manage your music: you can create setlists to share with friends, hide songs, get recommendations or use search filters to get to the music you want, fast. The game also includes a ton of social networking tools for those who love to engage online over Twitter, Facebook and more.

This title in the series introduces the option for players to use their existing instruments ‘just for fun’ or get hold of the hot new Pro instrument controllers for the very first time to step up their game. Using the keyboard and Pro controllers (sold separately) the classic Rock Band gameplay is expanded to provide new challenges, even helping players to improve their musical skills.

Two new Pro Guitar controllers make notated guitar and bass gameplay available and there’s the choice of the Fender™ Mustang™ PRO-Guitar™ from Mad Catz or the super cool Rock Band 3 Squier® by Fender Stratocaster® Guitar Controller. The latter of which is a full size, fully functional 6-string electric guitar that moonlights as a game controller and is available post-release.

Rock Band 3 also marks the addition of a keyboardist to your group with the release of the new keyboard controller featuring 25 full-sized, velocity-sensitive keys. Pro Keys puts notes spanning 2 octaves at your fingertips with an easy-to-read visual layout of what to play on screen. Last but not least, hardcore drummers can experience Pro Drums as a drum kit expansion including 3 additional cymbals.

Pro controllers truly are the ideal aid to help you realise your musical potential – who knows where the Rock Band 3 road might take you?

With entirely new modes, overhauled play modes, hundreds of goals and the ability to ‘drop in or drop out’ from any game screen, Rock Band 3 is the perfect long player for casual gamers or hardcore players alike. Rock Band 3 for Wii lets you expand the band, your skills and your playlist forever.
