Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage

System: Wii Release date: 12/11/2009

Get ready to hit the slopes once again as the popular Shaun White Snowboarding series returns to Wii.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage - the follow-up to Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip – once again invites you to get your feet on the Wii Balance Board and tear through the snow at some of the coolest locations on the globe. Simply shift your body weight forward, back and from side to side on the Wii Balance Board to control all your motions and perform daring tricks, or use the Wii Remote on its own – twisting it left or right to make your character turn, then flicking it at the right moment to catch big air.

Whatever control method you opt for, you’ll have to let your competitive edge shine through as you take part in a multitude of boarding challenges and aim to scale the world rankings. You and your crew will begin your competitive careers at the bottom of the pro ladder, aiming to rise from 100th in the world to first by touring the globe and entering competitions wherever there’s snow to be found. From pulling off sick stunts on a half-pipe in Times Square to racing down a slope slap-bang in the middle of Paris, expect to get your passport stamped in all kinds of amazing locations as you take part in 75 unique challenges and conquer eight mammoth mountains.

As you go, you’ll grow your crew by recruiting riders from around the world then put their individual skills to work by selecting the best snowboarder for each challenge. You can also make sure everyone looks the part by unlocking a rage of authentic boots, boards, jackets, helmets and stickers in recognition of your achievements on the slopes.

Not only can you hang with your virtual crew as you attack the world rankings, you can get your real friends in on the action as well. Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage boasts a seamless multiplayer mode that lets up to three friends join in at any point in proceedings for a variety of co-operative and competitive challenges. While one player uses the Wii Balance Board, the other three can take charge of the action using the Wii Remote.

Somewhere along the way you can be sure you’ll run into snowboarder extraordinaire Shaun White himself. Will you have what it takes to impress the best boarder of them all, or perhaps even knock him off his place on the winner’s podium? If you do reach the top of the world in your solo career, why not post your best scores to the online leaderboards and see how you really stack up against the rest of the globe?

Whatever the online world rankings might say about your skills, you can take comfort in knowing you have a style all of your own. Taking advantage of the Wii MotionPlus accessory, Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage lets you create tricks with pin-point precision to ensure you leave a unique mark every time you hit the slopes. In trick editing mode, an on-screen snowboarder will take to the air then mirror every twist, spin and tilt you make with a Wii MotionPlus-equipped Wii Remote. As long as you can land safely from the trick you've created, you can save that trick and trigger it at any point during gameplay.

Get closer to the world of competitive snowboarding than ever before and try your hand at the coolest career this side of Everest in Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage, only for Wii.
