    Nintendo’s Parental Controls PIN reset tool will generate a master key to reset the Parental Controls PIN on your Nintendo console or system.

    Note: If you need a master key for a Nintendo Switch console, please go here.

    In order to use this tool, you have to be 18 years old or older and have a Nintendo console or system from the European region.

    Using this Parental Controls PIN Reset Tool:

    Before submitting this form, please make sure that the date on your console or system is set to today. The master key is tied to today's date and will expire tomorrow.

    • Your Nintendo console or system could be from a region outside Europe. Please visit your regional support site for assistance.
    • Check for any maintenance notifications on the Network Maintenance page, then try again after the posted maintenance/service outage has ended.

    Where do I find the serial number?

    The serial number is located on your console or system. The serial number starts with three letters followed by nine numbers - be sure to include the last number in the box (or otherwise separated from the other 8 numbers).

    The serial number on a Wii U console is located on the bottom of the console, just below the barcode. Please make sure not to use the serial number of the Wii U GamePad.

    The serial number on a system in the Nintendo 3DS family is located on the bottom of the system, just below the barcode. Has the serial number been removed? The serial number can also be found in the battery compartment, underneath the rechargeable battery pack. Learn more.

    Where do I find the enquiry number?

    The enquiry number is 8-10 digits long, and will be displayed after you select "I Forgot" from the Parental Controls menu on your console or system.

    You must first provide a valid serial number before we can determine if your enquiry number is also valid.
