Featuring over 50 all-new events and some of gaming’s brightest stars, Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games takes you straight to the heart of the host city and into athletic action brought to life in stunning 3D! Up to four players will discover multiple ways to control the fun, using the features of Nintendo 3DS to tap, blow and tilt their way to victory as they go for gold!
For starters, you’ll need to pick your preferred character from a truly star-studded line-up. Athletes with similar personalities are grouped together and compete in the same events – so for some events you’ll use heroes like Mario and Sonic, while in others you’ll select from tricksters such as Wario and Dr. Eggman. There are 20 characters in total to choose from!
Once the action gets underway you can try your hand at over 50 events that are split into eleven different categories. These categories include the likes of Athletics, Aquatics and Boat Games, and every sport makes use of the features of Nintendo 3DS to bring you closer to the action. In 100m Freestyle Swimming, you’ll tap the Touch Screen to race down the pool, while the Nintendo 3DS system’s microphone comes into play as you shout with precise timing to raise the bar in Weightlifting or blow at the right moment in 100m Breaststroke. Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games also puts the system’s gyro sensor to use, calling on you to aim your Nintendo 3DS carefully and precisely in events like Archery or move it with push/pull motions in Rowing. Just like the real Olympic Games, winning multiple medals on Nintendo 3DS demands versatility from competitors!
In the game’s Olympic Mode players can choose to compete in a single event or opt for a Medley Match consisting of multiple events. You can even create your own custom Medleys and share them wirelessly with other Mario & Sonic players.
You can also look forward to a riveting single-player story mode in which you’ll play as a range of your favourite characters taking on Bowser and Dr. Eggman and their mysterious fog creations! Only victory in Olympic events can foil their plans and save the day.
Add in online leaderboards that let you view the records of players around the globe, and you’re left with a fun-filled package that offers fun and excitement wherever you are.
