    How to Manage or Delete Downloadable Software on Nintendo Switch

    Instructions for managing or deleting downloadable software on Nintendo Switch.

    Complete these steps

    Check that your console has the latest system update.

    What would you like to do?

     

    1. Open System Settings from the HOME Menu.
    2. Scroll down the options on the left and select Data Management.
    3. Select Manage Software on the right-hand side, then select the software you would like to manage or delete. Depending on the system menu version, one or more of the following options will be available:
      • Prevent Auto Archiving: The software will not be archived automatically. When archiving software manually, it will be listed toward the bottom of the list.
      • Archive Software: Select Archive Software, then Archive to free up storage space. You can redownload the software by selecting the software icon on the HOME Menu.
      • Delete Software: The software and the icon will be deleted from the HOME Menu. You can redownload it using the same Nintendo Account that was used to purchase it.
      • Check for Corrupted Data: Check for corrupted data in downloadable software.
    1. Select a software icon on the HOME Menu.
    2. Select Options at the bottom of the screen or press the - or + Button on a Joy-Con controller.
    3. Select Manage Software, then Archive Software.
    1. Open System Settings from the HOME Menu.
    2. Select Data Management, then Quick Archive.
    3. Select all the software titles you would like to archive, then select Archive Software, followed by Archive.

    Additional information

    • Downloadable software can also be saved to a microSD card in order to free up space.
    • If a microSD card is inserted into the console, the save location will default to the microSD card when downloading or redownloading software.
